1. A CLEAR PROMISE AS A SOLUTION
“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” (Mat. 4:17)
Jesus’ message here on earth, during those three years of His public ministry (AD 27 to 30), focused entirely on the Kingdom of God.
What does it look like, in practical terms, when something of the Kingdom unfolds here among us on earth?
Jesus Himself provides the answer in Luke 4:16–18:
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
because He has anointed Me
to proclaim the gospel to the poor.
He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set the oppressed free,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
May I venture to paraphrase this in my own words?
The “Kingdom of God” unfolds wherever we see God at work through His Spirit. People hear and experience God Himself ministering the Good News of the Gospel to them. The results are:
• The poor discover “life, and that more abundantly”
• Prisoners are set free
• The blind are suddenly able to see
• The oppressed and downtrodden experience a new freedom once again
• Yes, God’s grace transforms people’s lives, just as the traditional Jewish Year of Jubilee did in ancient times (Lev. 25)
2. SOME OF OUR GREATEST CHALLENGES
Across the country, there are hundreds like me—prepared and equipped by God Himself—to do what Jesus did, in the very places where He has positioned them and granted them authority and the trust of the people.
Yet, there are practical challenges that hinder, or could even prevent, this work:
• The finances and other resources required daily; for many have had to “leave” their former situations to carry out what King Jesus commanded them to do.
• After all, the adage “he whose bread one eats, his word one speaks” is a reality within the church (written with a lowercase ‘c’).
For this reason, throughout His Word, the Lord has instructed His people to invest in the coming of His Kingdom by bringing their “tithes” and “offerings” into “the storehouse” (Mal. 3:10), so that “there may be food in My house.”
“And test Me in this, says the Lord Almighty.
Test Me to see if I will not open the windows of heaven
for you and pour out rain for you—
more than you can use.
I will hold back the locusts
so that they do not destroy the harvest on your land,
and ensure that your vineyards are not left without fruit,
says the Lord Almighty.
Then all the nations will regard you as a blessed people;
you will live in a desirable land,
says the Lord Almighty.”
What a compelling picture this is of what happens when we begin to invest in the Kingdom of God!
In Matthew 6:19–21, Jesus describes this as investing—placing funds into an account—in heaven:
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal.
Store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
3. RESULTS – EVIDENCE THAT THIS IS GOD’S WORK
For more than 33 years—ever since I resigned as a minister in the Dutch Reformed Church (NG Kerk) in 1993—my wife, Hetta, and I have had the privilege of carrying out the Lord’s commission in faith. Wherever the Lord Himself has built bridges to people’s hearts and lives, we have served—without ever asking for a salary or any form of remuneration.
However, we sense that a new season has arrived.
The Lord has challenged us to invite others to join us in investing where He Himself is opening doors.
Let me show you the investment opportunities where we are currently active, so that you may make an informed decision as to whether King Jesus is inviting you to invest in the Kingdom work taking place here.

“NEW WINE” – in Afrikaans
Having served as a minister in the Dutch Reformed Church for fourteen and a half years (1979 to 1993), I have been equipped by the Lord Himself to minister to thousands of Afrikaans-speaking believers in everyday Afrikaans. This is especially relevant for those who, in recent years, have been deeply traumatized by doctrinal errors and unscriptural decisions proclaimed from the pulpits in places that had served as their spiritual home and sanctuary for many years.
Just as the Lord, through the working of His Spirit, ministered “new wine” (as in Luke 5:37-39) to me in my own life—causing familiar, long-known biblical truths to suddenly become fresh and new—He now uses me to minister this to other believers in Afrikaans as well.
I do this in person within congregations and small groups of believers across South Africa and abroad, as well as through the digital media.
Since the year 2000, I have also had the privilege of sharing this weekly via the internet, email, and social media.
As part of this, I facilitate and minister to Afrikaans-speaking believers—wherever doors open—within communities of believers that have recently “walked away” (or are currently in the process of “walking away”) from their established church structures; a situation currently seen, for example, within the KOINONIA SYNOD.
You can find the digital presence of this ministry in Afrikaans here: www.nuwewyn.co.za
As well as on social media: FACEBOOK, TELEGRAM, SIGNAL, LINKEDIN, and WHATSAPP.
Furthermore, I have released various publications and DVD courses, along with e-books and other digital publications. (See: https://nuwewyn.co.za/index.php/winkel )
“NEW WINE”
For the past three years or so, I have also been ministering everything I publish in English.
From the English-speaking world, there has been a global call for the material I minister in Afrikaans to be made available in English as well.
You can find this ministry in English on the following site: www.new-wine.co.za
I have also designed a website, accompanied by an app, that enables believers to share the Gospel with others in a very simple way and to disciple new converts. All of this you can find on: www.journey-of-discovery.co.za
A NEW “CONGREGATION” OF HALF A MILLION MILITARY VETERANS
As a former chaplain, I was appointed at the beginning of 2025 as Chaplain and Head of Support Services for all military veterans throughout the Western Cape.
To carry out this specialized ministry more effectively, we have developed a website and established a non-profit company.
Details can be found here: www.thriving-veterans.org
A non-profit company has been registered as HELDERBOSCH VETERANS’ ORGANISATION NPC 2025/879689/08
(Should anyone wish to invest in this area of the ministry, please request the CAPITEC BUSINESS BANK details).
MY MLNP PRACTICE
The Lord has revealed to me the profound pain and trauma present in the lives of those around me, and He has uniquely equipped and anointed me to minister to them and bring healing in His Name.
To this end, I utilize my specialized pastoral and therapeutic ministry as a Multilevel Neuro Practitioner (MLNP), providing life guidance and mentorship to believers—particularly those in the business world. For this, please see my website, www.drchristoanel.co.za
(For this part of my work, I “sometimes” charge fees or request donations, depending on the client’s own financial situation.)
